You know that moment in an Awareness Through Movement® lesson — when people get up off the floor, and you ask them to notice what’s different? The lesson’s not over… but it’s time to pay attention to themselves in a different orientation to gravity.
That’s where we are right now.
I know it’s easy to ask that after a lesson because “we always do it.” And yet sometimes, it helps to remember that the reason we do it is that people understand the return on the investment of time they just made in themselves when you ask them take a moment to realize it!
So take that moment now. You may have been here every day or not. You may have commented or not. Maybe now you’ll comment for the first time, the 25th time… or not! You know what? If you got something from the commitment you made and the time you invested, that’s huge, no matter how you did it.
A lot of people invest time, money and energy and never realize what they got from it. Maybe they think they didn’t get anything. Or maybe they think it was a waste of time.
In my experience, what you get out of your investment is directly related to what you put into it. Recognizing your own part in the equation is crucial to feeling connected to the power you have to take your practice to whatever place you choose to run with it.
So take a few minutes now, and just give yourself the space to think back over the days since the beginning of this month. What’s shifted for you? What’s different about you? What thoughts do you have now that you didn’t have last month?
And then — if it’s where you are — allow yourself to think the thought you may hate to hear from your students — Well, yes — something’s different, but it doesn’t have anything to do with this.
And know that here, in the training program of your life, you are exactly where you are supposed to be… in every way.
It’s all a process.
Everything has to do with everything.
Nothing means nothing.
Leave a comment. Or not.
And ask yourself… what do I hope is coming in the next 6 days? What will I put into them, to make sure that I get what I want out of them — to fulfill the intention I made when we started?

Hi Allison,
Thanks for the blog challege! I got me in the habit of reading and commenting, and mostly it helped me to organize my thoughts. Hearing that Tim’s blog came up with just the Google search work “coordination” amazed me, and give me hope. thanks so much
Heather
Heather, you really took this on! I don’t think you missed a day. It’s a good muscle to be exercising and I’m glad you’re doing it!
My biggest takeaway is that being expert in something is not the same as being seen to be an expert. I’m asking myself whether blogging is a way I want to put my expertise forward. I’ve also been inspired to get running by reading Tim’s blog. I’m forming more questions about how blogs work, and thinking November would be a good date to put on my own blog challenge . . . What am I doing between? Running, and starting a blog . . . doing a workshop for musicians again, and resuming Heart 2 Heart . . .
How will I link it to my website, my newsletter, etc. my facebook page . . .
Thanks for the stimulation and example . . .
Valerie
Valerie, it’s all good, all movement. It sounds like it may be time to let things settle so you can see what your next step is.
What’s changing for me is that I am looking at my life as being made up of several different pods that are important to me…. time with my loved ones this summer, time to learn and challenge myself in learning all the skills required to get people into my practice where I can build my skills in helping them, and taking breaks from thinking and doing what’s necessary there…quality relaxation, time for the mind to rest, as well as the body.
And, I have finally gotten into reading your blog! I need to go back to read all those I have missed.

I’m gratified that you want to read them all, and I am sure that this is not likely to be your only chance to do so! I am already thinking about what comes next, so stay tuned…
My biggest takeaway for now is realizing that just as getting up from the floor at the end of a leson and noticing any differences is an integral part of an ATM, so is the initial scan. I need to think of both as part and parcel of every lesson (and really consciously teach that way). And so, Allison, I’m learning to recognize that who I am and what I am bringing now is as important as all the learning that follows. Thank you for reminding me of this again and again!
No problem, Shira! I’m so glad things are moving for you!
