Hi, I’m Allison Rapp.

Allison RappWhen I started my Feldenkrais® practice in 1977, things were a lot different than they are now. We advertised by putting flyers up at the food coop, we hoped against hope to get into the local newspaper and we were over the moon if we got asked to do a radio interview.

Although I had grown up immersed in our family business, I somehow managed to convince myself that I could be self-employed without having a business. So for a long time, I managed to squeak by without really paying attention to anything other than taking advanced training, being a good practitioner and doing a great job with my clients.

Forty-some years on, I look back and wonder how I  ignored so much for so long. For one thing, dismissing business meant that I wasn’t taking proactive responsibility for myself as I got older. Let me tell you—now that I AM older, that shows up like a black tick on my white dog. These are just a few of the ways I blew off what “other” people do:

  • I didn’t take vacations, which meant I never really got time off so being self-employed didn’t mean being in charge of my own time. It meant working ALL the time.
  • I didn’t have health insurance, so if “something happened” the added stress was enormous. So when my two babies happened, there was no safety net.
  • I didn’t save for retirement—which seemed fine because early on it didn’t occur to me that some day, I might like to do a tad less of the work I loved so much. Then I hit a ‘certain age’ and realized I liked to have entire days without obligation to clients.

What I didn’t realize earlier was that it isn’t enough to be a good practitioner… in order to be sustainable over the long term, I needed a business to support my practice.

In 2010, I created my first program to help practitioners build a practice. It was focused on attracting and enrolling clients without feeling out of alignment, and Heart to Heart remains an important course for most practitioners.

However, there are many smaller foundational blocks that need to be in place in order to have the kind of business that supports your ability to do the work you love—without taking forever to finish, making you feel out of alignment or costing way too much in money or energy.

That’s where I got the idea for…

Love Your Business

Love Your Business (LYB) was designed to help you put a solid foundation under your business—one block at a time, so you never feel overwhelmed, out of alignment or confused about what to do next.

LYB is a membership program with monthly content “sprints” that will help you build a foundation under your business—one block at a time, without feeling out of alignment and without spending more time than you need to.

TOGETHER, WE’LL TACKLE THINGS ONE AT AT TIME IN MAJOR TOPIC AREAS LIKE—

Copywriting—putting words on your website, in your emails, on your social media posts.

Policies—what you need and why, how to create them before you need them, so you don’t get blind-sided when someone asks you about refunds, or misses too many sessions or wants to negotiate your fee.

Testimonials—how to get great ones that answer the questions potential clients have about you and your work.

Referrals—all too often, when your clients tell others about you it’s a dead-end, so you need to make referrals land.

Client nurture—finding potential clients, helping them decide to call you, turning the people you work with into people who promote you.

Being in touch—building a list and staying connected to the people on it without feeling sleazy, manipulative or vulnerable

Money–figuring out what you need, raising your fees, paying your taxes, feeling good about earning a living

Inner voices—you can’t move forward when something inside is holding you back and you can’t make a credible offer when you’ve got inner voices sabotaging your success at every turn. Those little voices can take you down—or lift you up when you make friends with them.

What practitioners are saying . . .

Guidance through marketing strategy with what makes us unique and client avatar reflection, developing niche. Helped me to settle on a niche and to embrace one niche to start with through the guidance of the course and feedback from you.
You gave us both the drone view, as well as the laser focused details, I needed to understand better each module’s take-aways. You always gave us specific “homework” tasks that were practical, immediately implemented, and got results.
Signing up for LYB was a no-brainer for me. I have followed Allison Rapp since her You Tube challenge, and knew that $30 or so a month was going to be valuable. It was also just enough of my business income that I knew I’d pay attention and do things, aside from just showing up for “class”.

I have still to take many steps to improving my website and marketing, but am vastly encouraged by the knowledge that I can and will find more clients who want my business because I am telling them that I offer what they need.

Allison creates a space where it is possible to show the areas you believe are weak without facing more ridicule than you yourself apply to the weakness. She also has shown me small steps I can take to move forward without scaring myself.
I really found the short tutorials, with significant info followed by the Q and A very helpful. The format was accessible, easy and informative. I appreciated the opportunity to hear what others were experiencing, as well as their questions and the insightful conversations.
All the topics we covered in 2021 were super meaningful to me especially the “Great Testimonials,” “Great Referrals,” and “Essential Webpages.” The course was helpful because it made it easy to get this things done. Allison teaches you exactly what to do step by step to reach results.
I like that each topic is uniquely specific. The questions posed offer an opportunity to explore deeper inside. Each topic builds on the one before. I’m in awe of the depth of knowledge and experience Allison has in communicating with clients and clients to–be.
I really liked the sense of community, the mindset reminders and conversations Allison created.
I came to LYB at a time when I was starting from scratch in a way, deeply discouraged about “using Feldenkrais” after concluding that running a private practice would not be a “fit” for me (because I want more predictability and a steady income), and 6 years of a healthcare career that left me drained and depleted.

When I started considering applying for commission-based jobs in medical device sales, insurance review, and therapy recruiting to “get out of healthcare” I had a wake-up call to pursue starting my own practice so that “at least I could sell something I believed in”. .

Allison’s insights and contribution towards building a solid practice have been invaluable, I have started the process in the last 6 months and can’t wait to see it take off in the next few years. I have enthusiastically recommended her courses to other practitioners. I resonate with her message that, while we are passionate as practitioners about “getting our work out there” and serving our clients well, though we often struggle with the business aspects of running a sustainable practice, which ends up making our business unsustainable in the long run, even though we have invested SO MUCH into ourselves/our training. .

Through Love Your Business, I have confronted a deeply held a limiting belief I had about practitioners, in general, being unable to make a success of their practice and having to eventually “give up” and keep their practice as a side hustle.

Love Your Business
includes all of this,
and much more!

Plan Your Financial Success

Create a plan that will help you build a viable practice and earn a living.

Most practitioners shy away from planning, numbers and anything to do with money. In this course, you’ll make a simple plan that takes into account what you want to earn, when you want to work, and what you need to charge to make it come together.

I had set very small goals, and this encouraged me to make higher goals. As it turns out I have exceed the smaller ones, if not achieved the higher ones!
I feel more ready to do this for next year now.
This still is one of the courses for 2021 that stands out for me, especially because of marking off the time FOR ME first. And, how challenging that was. For the queen of self–care. So, it really gave me insight what it must be for my clients & prospective clients to put themselves first. In terms of charting out the year, my health issues scrambled those plans, but the course was as resilient as I was/am, and Allison helped me to let go of what I could and focus my very precious energy where it mattered most. Having a plan–even if I had to change it or tweak it–was a huge before/after experience. It was like having the right map to on a treasure hunt!

Change Your Stories, Change Your Business

Your practice is an expression of who you are and the life experience that makes you perfect for your clients.

It’s a common belief among holistic practitioners that each of their credentials or certifications gives them a different thing to offer their clients. This can lead to difficulty with setting fees and understanding how to offer your work. It can create difficulty on your website and confuse your clients—who may not really know what it is that they need from you.

A better way to do it is to recognize that through your entire life experience, you’ve created the perfect training program for yourself that not only makes you who you are, but makes you the obvious choice to help the particular people you are here to serve.

The material in this class is worthy of review anytime you find yourself buying into a long held belief. .
Great!! Realized family inculcated a resistance towards entrepreneurship and placed higher value on a “secure” job.
This course is very dear to me because I have determined and frightened inner voices.
I feel more ready to do this for next year now.
This is a great tool: I was sure I had a story and I knew it, but during the process it turned to be a different one, that I did know very little about. I love the process of self-knowledge that emerges while working on my business – the best self-development ever (after parenting)!

What Makes You Unique?

It’s all about YOU!

This course is very dear to me because I have determined and frightened inner voices.
I feel more ready to do this for next year now.
Helped me to feel more confident about offering my services and claiming some level of authority within my area of expertise/niche.
Perhaps the biggest realistic confidence booster I’ve received in my life.
This module I loved and I am still working on it. What makes me truly unique keeps popping up. So, I go and figure it out with the skills I have learned in LYB. I am still understanding my life PhD, and how that connects and resonates with my clients.

Who Is Your Client?

The more you know about your client, the easier it is to find them and stay in touch with them… and the easier it is to know that you’re the right practitioner for them.

It’s very difficult to build a practice when you are trying to appeal to “everyone with skin.”

Once you understand your own uniqueness as a practitioner, it’s easier to see that there are certain people you can help more than others.

This course helps you understand who those people are, and includes having an Active Imagination talk with your Client Avatar.

Thanks for the reminder of only choosing those parents/kids as clients I want more of.
I got clear on who is my ideal client and how I can serve her.
Connecting this module as the bridge between the “What Makes You Unique” and “Your Client is Unique” is perfect. It was like shining a bright spotlight directly where I need to focus my energy, time, & resources. It’s on-going, but so very productive.
I was able to make several decisions early in the course with Allison’s guidance about the niche I want to serve and that has been very helpful and empowering to focus the direction of my business going forward.

Your Client Is Unique

Differentiate your clients from everyone else on the planet, so that it becomes much easier to find them, and for them to find YOU!

Knowing who your client is, is one thing. Knowing how to attract that person is another.

This course will help you to understand how to talk about the benefits of your work in a way that appeals to the particular clients you are here to serve. The more you know about the people you want to work with, the easier it is to write the copy for your website, send regular and engaging emails, and compose articles and blog posts that interest them.

I like to teach workshops and understanding how my client is unique really helped me with planning them.
The fear that there aren’t enough clients was eliminated… the challenge of developing the focus is one I am still to meet.

The Client Iceberg

Learn how to focus your attraction efforts on what your potential clients are looking for, instead of focusing on what you imagine people would like to know, if they were you. 😏

At different stages in your relationship, clients need different kinds of information from you.

Most practitioners focus their attraction efforts on the wrong information—not because it’s wrong to give it, but because it’s not the stage where that information matters to people who are not yet your clients.

In this course, you’ll learn about the Client Iceberg, a model that helps you understand which information is relevant at which stage. Then you’ll develop your own Client Iceberg as a guide to attracting the specific clients you’re here to serve.

This was a great message, bringing to my awareness that the things I want to share are not necessarily helpful to people, exactly because of the Iceberg!
The metaphor is perfect, easily remembered & used. In fact, I image it just about every day in some fashion. it has really helped me to laser focus in on where a prospective client is, and to craft my words to them better. And, to listen to where they are better.

Create Attraction Assets

Using the results of your work up to now, create marketing assets that help you be seen by the people you’re looking for.

If you want to build your client base, it’s not enough to hope people will find you.

In this course, you’ll take the information you’ve gathered about your clients to create attraction “assets.” Assets are ways of communicating your value to potential clients, by speaking to the kinds of things they are concerned about.

This was a wonderful course. I was really inspired and it helped me a lot in setting up the marketing for my classes and workshops.

Essential Website Pages

Use what you know about yourself, your clients, and the practice you want to build, in order to create web pages that attract the people you are here to serve.

If you have a website, there are some pages you need, some you don’t, and some that hurt you.

This course covers the essential pages. You’ll learn why there might be too much information easily available on your website, how to think about the copy you need, and how to get a website up quickly then expand it over time.

Allison used one of my pages as a model and the Essential Website course has motivated me to get on my website and keep it fresh.
A kismet experience as this module fell on the month I was focusing especially intensely on my new website creation workshop website. Immensely helpful. And saved me so much lost energy.
I am the kind of person who tends to never be happy with what she produced, so writing and structuring the pages of my website was an endless process.

But after taking this course, I can say that even if there is no end to the opportunity to refine, I managed to conclude with the main things that, in the end, are essential to have the feeling of having achieved a result.

Great Testimonials

How to get testimonials that will help you build your business and attract ideal clients.

You’ve probably got some—or even many—testimonials. The thing is, they often don’t speak to what potential clients want to know about you and what you can do for them.

In this course, you’ll learn the parts of a great testimonial, how to get them from your clients, and when and how to use them.

Thanks for a wonderful Q and A! I learned a lot just through the questions and realized after 25 years of working with children in my clinic, I have never asked for a testimonial! Can you believe it! I realized what a mistake that was and how to seek them out. Also, funniest thing is I decided to write a list of potential people to ask and one of them just happened to contact me yesterday!! Interesting timing!!
Before taking this course I had only made some generic and timid attempts to ask for testimonials, I didn’t know how to do it. Now I can say that in a really short time I learned to ask for testimonials without hesitation because I’ve learned how to guide the requests so that it is easy for people to identify what to say, I’ve learned how to elicit people thoughts to get sincere testimonials.
Your questions to ask clients for the testimonial process was worth the price of the entire Love Your Business course! I felt so empowered to simply follow the guidelines that you put out to complete the task that I have previously found to be quite awkward and unsatisfactory. I have now collected three testimonials and one is already up on my website.

Great Referrals

Learn to get the referrals that will help you build the practice you want.

Wouldn’t you love to build your entire business on referrals from you best clients? Haven’t you heard from your best clients that they tell other people about you, and those people never show up in your practice?

Oops! There’s a gap here. It arises from the fact that no matter how much they want to help you and their friends, most of your clients don’t know how to make great referrals that actually land.

You’ll learn what constitutes a great referral, when to ask for them, how to help your clients give them, and how to keep the ball in your court so that referrals land and help both you and your client’s friend.

Before taking this course I had no idea about how to ask for referrals or how to help my current clients to make better referrals. Now I feel I’m in control of this aspects of my business, I now know what to say and when to say it. It took just the right amount of time to work with the material, and in less than a week I had a new skill.

Perceptual Style

Understanding your Perceptual Style® helps you live in your strengths and build your practice with less effort.

I’m sure you’ve experienced two different feelings—easy communication (even with someone you just met), and a lot of difficulty being understood (even by people who know you well).

Both of these have to do with Perceptual Style—how we take in information from the world around us, what we do with it, and how we put it back out into the world. Understanding your Perceptual Style helps you have better and easier communication. It makes it more likely your clients will realize why they should commit to working with you, helps you develop you authentic marketing voice, and expands your value to your clients.

When I saw the subject of this course, I thought I already knew enough as I had taken my perceptual style assessment earlier and I was aware of my tendencies to do certain things under the stress.

When I look back, I think this was one of the most important courses for me – as I am more aware now that the way I put my message forward does not necessarily hit home. I would love to develop this awareness and my ability to adjust the message by including more people’s styles further. In my last email to the clients I was able to incorporate a few different things to appeal to different styles.
I found this very intriguing and interesting in providing a great awareness of the intersection between personality traits.
This was great! I am surprised and continue to be surprised how much the “Flow” Perceptual Style matches many of my deeply held traits— its affirming.

Look Back, Look Ahead

An annual review helps you stay on track and refine your business so you can get more of what you want.

In this course, you’ll look inside, assess what happened in the past year and allow that to inform your thinking for next year.

Taking time to celebrate your wins allows your brain to focus on what’s important to you so that it can be more effective in getting it for you.

Thinking about what worked—that you want more of, and what didn’t work—that you don’t want anymore, gives you an opportunity to refine your business as you move forward.

Usually reviews of the year make me feel unsuccessful. Not this one, even though I didn’t meet my income goals!

Looking at the accomplishments first set me up to feel energized and open to working on what I might want to do in the future. I particularly liked the suggestions of how things might change, which lead me down more avenues of my own.
