Hi, I’m Allison Rapp.
If you’re like most practitioners, being self-employed is an accident. I mean—you started out to be a practitioner… to help people with your hands… to spend your time working with clients. Becoming a “small-business owner” was nowhere in your thinking. That’s why so many practitioners actively fight the idea that they even need a business.
I know because I was one of them. For decades.
First of all, I grew up with self-employed parents, so I figured I absorbed everything I needed to know. That was my first mistake. The fact that I thought I didn’t need to concern myself with money only added to the problem.
A year or so after my training finished with Moshe Feldenkrais 1977 in San Francisco, I went to colleague’s house for dinner. When I arrived, he was doing something with numbers in rows and columns on a piece of paper. (This was a long time ago when we still wrote with pens and pencils!) It looked like mumbo-jumbo I wanted nothing to do with, but I politely asked what it was about, and his answer baffled me.
He told me that he was figuring out exactly what he needed to do to earn a living in the coming year. Honestly, 40 years ago, I thought it was the craziest thing I had ever heard—so I ignored it and learned the hard way that leaving it to chance is the worst “plan” possible!
When I hit rock bottom, I knew I needed help.
All in all, I’ve spent over $100,000 to get a business education. I realized that I was learning essential skills that practitioners like you need to know… And that you wouldn’t have to spend that much money if I figured out what was most important for practitioners and said it in ways that we all understand easily because of our shared background.
Since 2010, I have been filtering everything I learned through my hands-on modality. Today, I make it easy for practitioners like you to build your business with my workshops and programs. If you’ve never worked with me before, Hands-On Business Kickstart is the perfect place to start.
